Summary
-------
The Leptons, up against a tough, power-hitting ILO squad,
nearly pulled off an upset of Goliath proportions. Down by
a couple runs in the 3rd, the Lepton bats exploded with a
series of base-hits, scoring 6 runs and taking a commanding
lead, while shutting down the ILO bats with solid defense
in the bottom half of the inning. Once more, in the 5th, the
Lepton bast took over, hitting the 7-run rule. The talented
ILO squad, however, would not allow the wooden stake to hit
its target and took over in the 6th and 7th, drawing to within
2 runs with 2 outs, before losing the game on a force play
at second.
Unfortunately, however, the ILO coach saw things differently
and called the runner safe from his 3rd base coach line of site,
allowing the ILO to tie the game up and force extra innings.
The Leptons responded with determination, scoring 2 in the first
half of the 8th, but it was not enough to secure the win and
the ILO squad put down a series of hits to snatch victory from
the highly deserving Leptons.
Notes:
------
Line of the day goes to the prez, for his 5-3-3-5, including
a walk, single, double and triple (poor-man's cycle) and a
whopping 5 RBI, including 2 in the top of the 8th. Honors go
to Laurent for his perfect 5-2-5-1, to John for his 6-1-5-1
with a double, and to Tom for a 4-2-2-4, including a double
and a home run.
Milestones:
-----------
We are all getting better.
