Reading of Minutes from APGM 2003

The APGM 2003 Minutes were read and accepted with unanimous vote.

Presentation of Committee for 2003

The Club Committee officers who served during 2003 where presented and their priceless involvement in the CERN Softball Club acknowledged. Roberto Divià, Andrew de Beaulac, John White, and Hannah Baldwin were unable to attend. Roberto has asked to resign as Vice President and to have someone take over his responsibilities as representative on the CCC. Brenda and Richard Hagen asked to be replaced as Equipment & Merchandising Officers. Tom Dobis is stepping down as Lepton Coach.

Presentation of Activities for 2003

The Activities for 2003 were described and reviewed. We played a lot of softball and had fun. So, it was a successful season.

Presentation of Accounting for 2003

The Accounting for 2003 was presented and accepted with unanimous vote. Yearly balance was for 1,103.25 CHF positive. Membership was down slightly and some infrastructure was purchased (Umbrellas for Bernie Tourney). It was also noted that the UBS effectively stole 63.40 CHF in charges from the club.

The Club would like to thank Roberto for his many years of dedicated service as Vice-President, CCC representative, and webmaster. It was Roberto's forsight that led the Softball Club to be the first sports club on the World-Wide Web. We wish Roberto well in his underwater endeavors with the Scuba Club.

Planning of Activities for 2004

Activities for 2004 were discussed and planned. We are going to play more softball and have fun. It was noted that 2004 is the 50th anniversery of CERN. Steve has arranged for the Bernie Tourney to be considered an official CERN 50th Anniversery Event, for what it's worth. He has requested 30 jerseys for the two teams to wear during the tournament. We might also participate in activities during the Open Day in October.

Planning of Accounting for 2004

Accounting for 2004 was proposed and discussed. Reimboursement for participation in the GSL by the two teams will be requested from the CCC, There will be no request for funding from Sport Toto. Steve noted that the UBS account is shared with the GSL, albeit with separate accounting. If the total assets exceeds 10 kCHF, the charges by UBS will be dropped. We are about half way there. We might want to purchase some more gloves for the club this year. Steve will probably order from Worth.

Discussion of Long-Range Goals

As in previous years, the idea of purchasing and installing a pitching machine was discussed, as was the idea of trying to get electricity brought to the chalet. The former is probably affordable and could be pursued. The latter would probably be best pursued through other channels.

AOB

  • The Softball Club we site was seemlessly ported to AFS last year and the alias http://Softball.cern.ch was maintained.
  • The Club will bring up the rotation for the cleanup of toilets at the Bucker Field, again, at the Captains Meeting in March.
  • Work days on Higgs Field and on Bucker Field will begin when the weather cooperates. This includes a general cleanup of the fields, weed killing, and rolling.
