Agenda

The following agenda was proposed and accepted:

Reading of Minutes from APGM 2004

The APGM 2004 Minutes were read and accepted with unanimous vote.

Presentation of Committee for 2004

The Club Committee officers who served during 2004 where presented and their priceless involvement in the CERN Softball Club acknowledged. John White and Phil Tobler were unable to attend. Steve has resigned as Club President and Richard has resigned as Quark Coach.

Presentation of Activities for 2004

The Activities for 2004 were described and reviewed. We played a lot of softball and had fun. So, it was a successful season.

Presentation of Accounting for 2004

The Accounting for 2004 was presented and accepted with unanimous vote. The club had a surplus of 2,911.87 CHF, 1000 CHF of which are earmarked for bringing electricity to the chalet. The total of its funds and those of the GSL (kept in the same account) now add up to more than the 10 kCHF "UBS poor tax" minimum, so charges might decrease in the coming year. Nevertheless the UBS effectively stole 47.20 CHF in charges in 2004.

Discussion of Committee Responsibilities

Title Responsibility
President Most important role is to make sure that everybody has fun. Also represent the Cern Softball Club at the CCC and at the GSL.
Vice-President Assist and Stand-In for the President, as needed
Treasurer Collect dues. Financial management of the Hardronic Festival and the Bernie Tourney (could be same event). Manage the UBS bank-account.
PR officers Make and distribute posters in order to get more and new players. This year the focus will be on CERN people.
Beermeister Beverage manager during Hardronic festival or other important events.
Higgs Field officer Make sure the field is in shape. This year the chalet needs to be painted, the box should be cleaned and the grills should be checked (some parts may be missing).
Webmaster All is done through the CERN web server so it would be easiest to have a CERN person. Responsibilities are obvious: keep the website running and up to date. Coaches should provide the box scores.
Coach Should be elected by a team member majority. Consensus is the best as coaches are there to bring their people together and make sure they are motivated and have fun. Coaches should also provide people for field work and box scores.

Election of Committee for 2005

Here are the results of the Committee elections:

TitleCandidateForAgainstAbstentions
President John Apostolakis 1200
Vice President Mike Gibson 1200

Higgs Field OfficerCoaches 1200
Quark Coach Unknown Appointed by President
Lepton Coach Mike Gibson Appointed by President

All candidates were elected and will serve from 1 April 2005 to 31 March 2006.

The Club (by word of the new president John) would like to thank Steve for his many years of very dedicated service as President. We shall miss him and will sometimes have to bother him for advise. He is nominated President Emeritus for Life.

Planning of Activities for 2005

Activities for 2005 were discussed and planned. They do not change much from last year. Organizing the Bernie Tourney in the same weekend as the Hardronic Festival has turned out to be a success, so we’ll do that again this year. This will be July 16/17th.

Planning of Accounting for 2005

Accounting for 2005 was proposed and discussed. Reimboursement for participation in the GSL by the two teams will be requested from the CCC, There will be no request for funding from Sport Toto. Steve noted that the UBS account is shared with the GSL, albeit with separate accounting. If the total assets exceeds 10 kCHF, the charges by UBS will be dropped. We are about half way there. We might want to purchase some more gloves for the club this year. Steve will probably order from Worth.

Discussion of Long-Range Goals

Accounting for 2005 was proposed and discussed. Reimbursement for participation in the GSL by the two teams will be requested from the CCC, There is still 1000 CHF reserved for electricity for the chalet, but we’ll have to see if this will happen.
